Experiences with the drying walls-System RONDOM®

I’ve got RONDOM® - dehumidilation device in my house since 1987. Since then the dampness has improved so well in the cellar. I can only recommend this device.

We had fitted in in our church on 9.9.1998 a RONDOM® - drying walls device. Our singing books were allways wet and since the fitting in they are dry and now we can even start to restorate the organ. For your work and your sincere advice we would like to thank you. We would like to offer our church for any sort of reference needed.

...Many rooms in the church were not usable anymore because of the dampness and whole restoration was impossible because of our financial situation.
That’s why weh ad the RONDOM® - drying walls-system fitted in. After only three months we noticed how the walls had started to dry and the fustiness smell is since then totally gone.
We are astonished how successful the RONDOM® - drying walls device works. A good and longlasting and not least economical solution.
 

Dehumidification of a civil defence room, Zürich

Moved in: 1987
Purpose: storage for food, furniture, clothes, books and files.

Fustiness: Allready in 1988 a strong fustiness was localized in the civil defence room, especially in the storaged clothes, books and files. Food like salt, sugar, flour and noodles had taken really bad damage.

Sanctions: two applications of a building dryer, drilling od a ventlation hole, short try with a ventilator, 1 ½ years using an air dehumidifier.

Object: Completely covered , unheated civil defence room, built on top of an underground garage next to a house. On top of the roof there is a possibility to sit where there is a garden with gras. Ceiling and walls are totally covered with earth. The other walls are there to separate the room from the garage and the house.
State of condition: The concrete quality and the way of sealing is unknown. Reading the plans gave insurance that there are seepage drain pipes there.

Note: When building new there are concrete walls in the earth which are protected by gravel cases, seepage drain pipes and different kinds of sealing possibilities. In the near past the industrial building sell waterproof concrete. It is wellknown in expert groups that building material in the earth face larger danger of dampness as material used on top of it. Also is wellknown to get everything dry again is nearly impossible.

Conclusion: On the occasion of a check on 8.7.94, all walls, the ceiling and floor were expertized with the electronical dampness measurement device GANN Hydromette 2, active sensor B. All building parts had a very high dampness degree which meant the walls were taking up dampness through the ground. Which also meant that further analysises must be made through a laboratory.
Sanction: On 8.Juli 1994 a Rondom® - wall dehumidilator WE 400-1 was fitted in. At the same time 3 measuring stations were installed to control the dampness development with 3 measuring points each, 40 cm, 100 cm and 170 cm over the floor.

Measuring station 1: Partition wall to garage, sensor deepness: bottom 2 cm, middle and top 4 cm.

Measuring station 2: earthcovered outside wall, no downhill force, sensor deepness: all 4 cm.

Measuring station 3: earthcovered outside wall with downhill force, sensor deepness: all 4 cm.

Check: The checks should show the effectiveness of the RONDOM® – wall dehumidilator. Every 2 weeks measurements were been taken by the electronic measurement device Rondom® 400 B and everything was taken down to protcol.
Result: After 60 days with the RONDOM® – wall dehumidilator it was possible to take the storaged clothes out and they didn’t smell no lnger of fustiness. Food, books and files were all back to normal, no smell and all signs of dampness gone. For all users of the room the effect of the RONDOM® – device was an absolute success.
The observation took a time of over 150 days and further points were noticed:

  • Bottom measure point by measuring station 1 ( 2 cm sensor deepness) cannot be compared to other measuring points so it can not be considered.
    Since using the  RONDOM® the measurements taken were over the whole duration dryer as the beginning.
  • The drying development in the partition wall and in the outdoor wall without a downhill force shows better results as the wall with the downhill force.
    After the rain period one noticed by all three walls (measure stations) from 25,10.94 til 24.11.94 a small increase of humidity. On the 9.12.94 it was allready reducing.
  • Under these circumstances where we had such changes in all values, we cannot leave out the fact how the weather plays a very important role, when it comes down to the fact of humidity development.
